The Solar Innovation Center is a one-of-a-kind visitor experience center at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. At the Center, visitors can learn about the different methods and technologies used to harness clean energy.
Visitors will see how clean energy can be used to power their everyday lives and how it is becoming an increasingly important part of Dubai’s sustainable future.

Oxford Integration was tasked with developing and delivering the second phase of exhibits at the Solar Innovation Center, aiming to enhance visitor engagement through interactive learning. One of the standout installations was the Interactive Clean Energy Table, an innovative exhibit designed to educate visitors about various forms of clean energy.
The table features a 75-inch LG Ultra HD touch screen with PCAP (Projective Capacitive) technology, allowing up to four users to interact simultaneously. Using standard touch technology, Oxford Integration’s team created custom software that performs object detection on 3D printed discs placed on the screen. These discs are designed to invoke specific content related to the form of clean energy depicted on each disc.
By rotating the discs, users can explore dynamic content, including 3D models, interactive graphs, and timelines, which help explain complex concepts such as geothermal, wind, hydro, biomass, hydrogen fuel cells, and energy storage. The software integrates these interactive elements into an educational experience that changes as users rotate the discs, providing them with visual and data-driven insights into clean energy technologies.
The design also ensures that the kiosk is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, with a glossy white finish that complements the surrounding environment. The application was developed with user-friendly controls and a clean interface, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors of all ages.
The ability to accommodate up to four users at once ensures greater visitor engagement, allowing multiple people to explore clean energy topics simultaneously.
Dynamic 3D models, interactive timelines, and detailed graphs provide an engaging way to learn about renewable energy technologies, fostering a deeper understanding of clean energy.
Leveraging standard PCAP touch technology for object detection allows for an affordable solution without sacrificing performance, making it suitable for large-scale installations.
The 75-inch LG display and Intel NUC mini PC ensure smooth performance and vibrant visuals, enhancing the interactivity and educational value of the exhibit.
The solution is scalable for future updates and improvements, including the potential for adding more educational content or features as new clean energy technologies emerge.
