The Solution

Oxford Integration was selected to deliver the second phase of immersive exhibits at the Solar Innovation Centre, enhancing visitor engagement through both outdoor and indoor interactive technologies. The core of the solution was a series of smart camera stations designed to allow guests to take wide-angle selfies at designated exhibit points.

The outdoor installation featured a smart camera system with a depth sensor that performs real-time skeleton tracking. It detects gestures, such as a raised hand, to trigger a photo. This system was housed in a custom-designed, anti-rust, weatherproof kiosk that integrates a 55-inch LG outdoor display with 4000nits brightness, ensuring excellent visibility in harsh sunlight. A micro-series air conditioning unit was included to maintain optimal internal temperatures.

For indoor spaces, the same gesture recognition and skeleton tracking technology was implemented in two additional kiosks. These were designed with compact 32-inch LG IPS signage displays, mounted in sleek, glossy techno-style totems. Intel NUC Mini PCs ran the interactive software and allowed photos to be triggered either by gesture or via a custom-branded remote control.

In all stations, when a gesture or remote command is detected, a countdown begins, giving guests time to pose before the photo is captured. The captured memories are stored digitally and can be retrieved later via a guestbook feature, creating personalized souvenirs for each visitor.
